Options
Use this page to customize MakeLifeEasy to suit your needs.
User Interface
- You can set your startup page to one of the pages in the list.
Asset Flow
These options let you perform asset flows manually.
See The Life Cycle of an Asset for more information.
Only change these options in special situations.
- Automatically activate new assets when needed (Holding->Active):
All new assets are placed in the Holding state by default,
and MakeLifeEasy will immediately set them to the Active state
if they are needed (i.e. if their need is not adequately covered by other assets),
unless you uncheck this option.
In most cases, it's best to keep this checked.
Otherwise, you have to make these state changes manually. That would be a hassle.
- Automatically transfer asset coverage responsibility:
When an existing asset becomes depleted, worn out, or expired,
AND another on-hold asset is available (covering the same need),
MakeLifeEasy will set the first asset to the "Inactive" state and
the second asset to the "Active" state.
If you uncheck this option, you can perform these flows yourself.
In most cases, it's best to keep this checked.
- Automatically dispose of inactive supplies (Inactive->Disposed):
All supplies are automatically disposed of when the become inactive,
unless you uncheck this option.
This is usually the case since, when the asset's Count left
reduces to zero, MakeLifeEasy sets it's status to "Done"
(or to Pending Inactive ("Done?"") if there's no new asset to activate).
Then when you verify that the asset is truly Inactive,
it's most likely that you've disposed of it.
In most cases, it's best to keep this checked.
Otherwise, you have to make these state changes manually. Another big hassle.
Analyses & Reports
- Include purchases with estimated prices in price reports:
MakeLifeEasy doesn't include prices you've marked as "estimated" in price reports,
unless you check this option.
Including estimated prices in reports that use prices would make those reports
less accurate, especially if your estimates are gross estimates or wild guesses.

Gap Filling
Emails
- You can select how often, if ever, you want to be notified
when a need moves onto your smart shopping list.
It's best to get this notice at least weekly,
unless you sign in to MakeLifeEasy twice or more per week.
