Why Throw Away Valuable Data?

Most of us, after we buy something, usually don't keep any record of it. Sure, we have the "thing" itself, and maybe the receipt. But keeping a "tracking ticket" about the item's purchase -- and how it's being used -- gives you valuable information that can save time and money. That's what businesses do, and now you can, too. You won't want to keep a ticket for everything, but it's very useful for some things. To create a ticket, you just enter data about that asset's purchase, and in some cases, about how you will use it as well.

MakeLifeEasy Provides A Single Place to Record Any Purchase

MakeLifeEasy allows you to create a ticket for any type of item you purchase, including "supplies", "durables", "apparel", and "services". Once you know how to enter one type, you can easily enter and manage the other types. Certain items, such as service appointments (e.g. haircuts, oil changes, etc.) could be entered in MakeLifeEasy, or in a personal calendar software program. But if that appointment also requires you to purchase something, you may prefer to enter it in MakeLifeEasy, since you will get other benefits, like Buying Advice and a Cost Per Day analysis.

The Ten Reasons to Record a Purchase

Here are ten things MakeLifeEasy can do for you when you record a purchase, thereby creating a "ticket" to track that "asset" (when you purchase a product, we call it an "asset"). Often, tracking one or two assets gives you all the benefits you need. In some cases, you may want to track a whole bundle of assets, such as your grocery list, to give you added benefits.

Smart Shopping List

Reason #1: You get Smart Shopping Lists.

These lists contain items that you're about to run out of, items that need to be replaced, and appointments you need to keep.

  • Works for: All types of assets, from one to hundreds of assets.
  • Examples: Groceries, health & beauty, cleaning supplies, apparel, shoes, haircuts, oil changes, etc.

Reason #2: You get Price Books and Buying Advice.

These are your own personal "consumer reports". They help you decide what's a good price to pay and how much to buy.
  • Works for: All types of assets, especially repeat-purchased items.
  • Examples: Groceries, health & beauty, cleaning supplies, apparel, shoes, haircuts, oil changes, etc.
See How To... Create Your Own Consumer Reports for more information.

Reason #3: You get to Maximize the Value of Your Stuff!

Smart Shopping List

Maximizing the Value of Your Stuff ("M-V-S") means:

  • Keeping the stuff that really matters to you.
  • Getting rid of the stuff that you won't miss anyway.
  • Deciding how to choose between the two.
  • Doing it quickly and easily.

MakeLifeEasy provides a patent-pending system for record-keeping, decision-making, and selling things you don't want.

  • Works for: Durables and Apparel.
  • Examples: Furniture, video equipment, audio equipment, appliances, clothing, shoes, etc.

See Maximize the Value of Your Stuff! for more information.

Reason #4: You get Warranty Tracking.

You'll have a quick way to find out if an item you own is still under warranty if it breaks.
  • Works for: Durables.
  • Examples: Large appliances, small appliances, video equipment, audio equipment, cameras, etc.
See How To Manage... Assets With Warrantees for more information.

Smart Shopping List

Reason #5: You get a Home Inventory Record.

You'll have a record of what you own in case you need to make an insurance claim, for example.
  • Works for: Durables and Apparel.
  • Examples: Furniture, video equipment, audio equipment, appliances, clothing, shoes, etc.

Smart Shopping List

Reason #6: You get Seller Performance Reports, customized for you

  • Works for: All types of assets. The more assets you track, the better this report will be. But comparing just one or two products at different stores can be useful, too.
  • Examples: Groceries, health & beauty products, etc.

Reason #7: You get a Cost Per Day Curve.

This lets you know how much it costs each day to cover your needs. For more info see Cost Per Day Curve.
  • Works for: All types of assets. The more assets you track, the better this report will be. But comparing just two needs can be useful.
  • Examples: Anything and everything.

Reason #8: You get New Techniques for Buying and Using Assets.

Learn new techniques for buying and using groceries, health and beauty products, frozen foods, apparel, etc.
  • Works for: All types of assets; those listed above and others.
  • Examples: Anything and everything.
See various articles in the Resources section for more information.

Reason #9: You get Expense Reports.

Unlike financial expense reports, the MakeLifeEasy reports are broken down to the specific item purchased, not just the store you purchased from.
  • Works for: All types of assets. Useful for any/all assets for which you want to track spending and/or compare expenses. You can run a temporary expense analysis (for a certain time period) or continuously track your expenses across several years.
  • Examples: Anything and everything.

Reason #10: It's green.

When you track your assets, you're able to make decisions that are good for the environment. For example, you learn which products from which manufacturers last longer, so you have less waste. You learn your usage rates and how your purchases meet your priorities, and you might learn how to reduce consumption without minding it at all.
  • Works for: All types of assets, especially supplies and some apparel.
  • Examples: Anything and everything.

Coming Soon: Even More Reasons to Record a Purchase

Reason #11: You get Automatic Buying.

This provides freedom from shopping -- at least the most tedious and annoying repeat shopping. You can keep doing all the fun shopping yourself, of course. As we strengthen our partner relationships, we'll connect you with merchants who want to automatically ship orders to fulfill your needs at great prices, to cover your smart shopping list.
  • Works for: Supplies and Apparel and some specific Durables.
  • Examples: Groceries, health & beauty, cleaning supplies, apparel, etc.

Reason #12: You get Shared Community Data.

Soon, when you join our user community, you'll be able to share your data with others, if you want to. There's a goldmine of information you'll get from other members, including:
  • Which stores in your area provide the lowest prices overall for the types of things you buy?
  • How long do the things you want to buy really last? For example, how long before that Panasonic DVD player breaks down? Longer than the Sony?
  • How can you reduce your usage of items that cost you a lot? Do you use more that you need to? You can learn from the other members in our community.
  • We'll also feature members in your area who get the lowest prices for the week for certain items.
  • Works for: All types of assets.
  • Examples: Groceries, health & beauty, apparel, all types of durables, everything.

Reasons #12, #14, #15, and so on: THE "BIG PICTURE"

MakeLifeEasy provides a whole new way to shop for and own assets. Think of the "big picture" of scientific shopping, inventory management, and everything related to managing smart shopping lists and asset lists on line. There's lots more to come.
