Manually Loading Offline Receipts
When you receive offline receipts (those from offline merchants),
you can load them manually like this:
- Add a new receipt by clicking on the "+" button next to the "Receipt:" list.
This will display the Create New Receipt popup page.
Fill in the seller name, date, any notes you like, and save the new receipt to the list.
Give the page a moment to refresh itself. If the "Add New Asset" panel has not appeared at the bottom of the page,
click the "Refresh" button to display it.
- Decide which products (or services) on the receipt you'd like to record as assets.
You can visit the How To... Decide Which Assets to Manage topic for more information.
But basically, try to manage as many supplies and durables as possible.
- For each product you want to load as an asset,
enter the data in the Add New Asset < panel at the bottom of the page.
Refer to that topic for detailed instructions on entering an asset.
- Press "Add Asset" when finished to record the asset.
As you load the receipt, the items show on the list under the receipt name.
To view or update an asset:
- (Optional) You may want to click on the "Refresh" button to be sure you have the most recent asset data.
- Find the asset you're looking for in the list,
and click on the asset name to view the Asset Properties page
opened to the Receipt Details panel.
You can edit and save the data on that page if you like.
Accepting Automatically Loaded Online Receipts
If you've forwarded us an email receipt from an online merchant,
the data may be automatically loaded, especially if the receipt came from one of our affiliated merchants.
If so, you'll just need to review it, maybe make changes or fill in missing fields, then save it.
When you receive an online receipt, you can review and accept it like this:
- Find the incoming receipt in the "Receipt:" list. It will start with "INCOMING:".
Receipts emailed to us (at receipts@makelifeeasy.com)
will typically be loaded within five minutes or less.
If you don't see your "INCOMING:" receipt within a reasonable time, you may want to re-send it.
If you get a duplicate you can always reject the receipt.
- Once you've selected the "INCOMING:" receipt, you can see the original receipt you sent to us by clicking on "Show Receipt".
Use the original to (1) validate that the receipt is the one you think it is, and
(2) fill in gaps or fix other problems with each asset on the receipt.
- To accept the receipt header (without the assets just yet), click on "Create Receipt".
This will display the Create New Receipt popup page with pre-loaded data.
Edit the merchant name, date, and any notes you like, and save the new receipt.
- To reject the entire receipt, click on "Delete Receipt".
- Decide which products (or services) on the receipt you'd like to record as assets.
You can visit the How To... Decide Which Assets to Manage topic for more information.
But basically, try to manage as many supplies and durables as possible.
- For each product you want to load as an asset, press the "Accept" button
to view the Add an Asset < page with the pre-loaded data.
Review the data and correct it or add to it as needed.
In particular, note that the size data is accurate and that the asset has been assigned to cover a need.
When finished, press Add New to save the asset.
- For each product you don't want to load as an asset, press the "Reject" button.
As you accept or reject the assets, the button captions change to show your progress.
When all assets have been either accepted or rejected, the "INCOMING:" receipt will disappear
from the list and be replaced with the loaded receipt.
