There are two ways to load asset's you've just purchased:
- You can load the receipts manually.
- For online purchases from participating merchants, you can
load the receipts automatically.
Loading Offline Receipts
You can do this for any and all items you want to put
under management. Enter data from receipts you receive from stores.
If you have just one item to enter, the Add an Asset < page
can be a little quicker. If you have more than one item, use the
Receipts < page.
Loading Online Receipts
If one of our affiliated merchants referred you or you emailed us a page from a merchant's site,
you will have online receipts loaded in the database waiting for your review and approval.
To load an online receipt:
- Place your order with the online merchant.
Merchants currently supported by MakeLifeEasy are shown in the list of merchants.
- In most cases the merchant will send you an email with your order confirmation within minutes of placing your order.
Wait for this confirmation to arrive via email. They may send you more than one email.
What you're looking for is your receipt: a message (text or HTML) that has the list of items you ordered.
- Use your email application's "Forward" function to forward that receipt to
receipts@makelifeeasy.com.
- Wait a few minutes for MakeLifeEasy to receive, load, and display the receipt for you.
- In MakeLifeEasy, open the Receipts < page, find the "INCOMING" receipt in the list
of receipts, select it, and load each item. Refer to the Receipts < page
for detailed instructions on how to do this.
TIPS ON SENDING RECEIPTS:
- What if MakeLifeEasy doesn't accept receipts from my merchant?
SEND IT ANYWAY! Here's why:
(1) We'll receive the receipt, and although we can't load it,
you can still view the original and look at it while you load the assets manually in MakeLifeEasy.
(2) Each receipt you send us is a vote for us to load receipts from that merchant.
- What if I forward the wrong email? Well, it's no big deal. It will show up in your "inbox" of receipts,
and you'll need to delete it. No real harm done.
- Oops! I forwarded that receipt twice. What should I do? No big deal. It will show up twice in your "inbox" of receipts,
so delete one of them.
